John G. Collins, DMD

dr collinsOriginally from the Appalachian Mountain area of Kentucky, Dr. Collins holds graduate degrees from the following schools: Morehead State University, University of Louisville, and Emory University in Atlanta. He came to North Carolina to pursue post-graduate education and research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Dentistry. While at UNC, Dr. Collins received a prestigious grant from the National Institutes of Health, authored 18 scientific journal articles [download cv] and holds three University-based patent applications for implants and periodontal disease diagnostic and treatment regimens.

He has been in private practice of periodontics since 1993 and also remains on the faculty at UNC as an adjunct professor in the Department of Periodontics. In addition to teaching, Dr. Collins has completed hundreds of hours in continuing education in periodontics and implants as well as lectured on these topics both locally and nationally. He founded and directs a study club for dentists and dental specialists that meets monthly in Wake Forest for the purpose of continuing education. Dr. Collins also serves as a specialist advisor for the Raleigh chapter of the Seattle Study Club which is an exclusive continuing education organization for advanced implant and restorative dental care.
